chart types can be created and added to the charting
framework. Once a chart has been defned, it can be
applied to different sets of similar parameters. Charts
can automatically be created for benchmarking against
projected trend lines. Where calculated variables are used,
there is automatic drill-down to the underlying variables.
The graph designer framework is integrated into the report
builder and dashboard builder frameworks.
The Dashboard Builder Framework can be used to create
a set of easy-to-read dashboards for different types of
user and to generate reports on KPIs of interest based
on real-time or historical data. Reports are added to
the dashboard by drag-and-drop. There are a number
of predefned reports but users can defne and include
charts, knowledge base articles, meters, images, tables
and gadgets and hyperlink components to other pages.
There is automatic drill-down to the underlying data and
parameters can be modifed on-the-fy. There is support
for complex layouts such as tabs, grids and view stacks.
Users can confgure and customize the dashboard
windows and can edit the data representation layer, as
long as they have the appropriate authorization. There
is a component framework allowing users to create new
components such as tickers, gauges or interactive 3D
models, and templates can be saved for re-use in similar
applications.
The Report Builder Framework can be summarized as
Microsoft Word meets Rich Internet Applications (RIA). It is
a framework, not an application, that provides easy drag
and drop functionality for charts, knowledge base articles,
meters, images and tables. Custom multi-page layouts
can be designed with the help of alignment guides and
rulers. There is a batch process for creating automated
reports with the timeline automatically adjusted for each
one. Custom reports are produced in PDF format, while
tabular reports can be generated in CSV and Excel format
as well as PDF.
The Knowledge Management Framework provides a
centralized depository of information to form a knowledge
base. It assigns each item a unique identifcation code
that allows automated recall of knowledge using an expert
rule based system. It ensures continuity of data and
information so that knowledge is re-usable and accessible
when needed.
