The initial challenge was to manage building systems
across the globe. A powerful computing platform was
required to implement integration, intelligence, control
optimization, autonomy and remote diagnostic capability.
The central information repository had to be able to store
large volumes of data on the performance and status of
all the systems and equipment. There were computational
diffculties in handling boundary conditions for the
discontinuities in systems such as HVAC equipment that
turns on and off, systems that change operating states,
and systems with multiple modes of operation. It was to
meet this challenge that Pacifc Controls developed the
Galaxy platform.
