The Galaxy platform offers open APIs so that third-party
developers can produce their own applications and
integrate them with the managed services ecosystem.
Pacifc controls hosts Galaxy on its open cloud that
enables any asset owner anywhere in the world to
subscribe to the managed services offering in a cost
effective manner. Multinational organizations can leverage
the pacifc controls cloud to manage business processes
and assets across the globe from a single platform.
Because it is developed on an open framework, the
platform provides users with the opportunity to use it
according to their own needs and preferences. Neither
the platform nor the user is restricted to particular
analytical methodologies, reporting formats or data
visualization structures. Through the whole process
from data acquisition and mapping to visualization and
reporting, through developing complex equations, creating
diagnostic rules and analyzing the data, the platform
allows the user freedom to make use of the data in the
way that suits him best. Thus allowing any organization to
regulate and monitor assets across cities and the globe.
One of Galaxy’s unique strengths is that it provides a
view of the platform and its data that can be tailored
to any type of user, whether they are a technician or a
manager or a software developer. This allows Galaxy to
be an unrestricted universal platform, which is beyond the
capability of any other MIS available today.
Building on many years’ experience of delivering managed
services, Pacifc Controls embarked on the development
of a cloud computing software platform to support its
managed services delivery capabilities. There was no
single platform available in the market which could deliver
the entire spectrum of functionality required for the holistic
life cycle management of a whole enterprise or city. To
meet this need, Pacifc Controls has developed a scalable
framework capable of managing and analyzing many
exabytes of data. The graphic below summarizes the role
of the Galaxy platform.
Galaxy allows multiple data sources to be collated
and the data mined for information and worked upon
in a distributed data environment. Data becomes
visible, transparent and verifable, making the system
and processes to which it is applied accountable to
stakeholders. The platform is interoperable with any
data source and provides access to reports at any level
of detail for decision makers and managers, ensuring that
they have the vital information at their fngertips. It can
create Gbots to act on this data and control any type of
digital system.
Having management information delivered to all who need
it from a single point in the cloud enables an organization
to focus on its core activities. Resource consuming
IT processes can be outsourced. Users can take control
of services that affect them, empowering citizens and
employees.
The Galaxy platform is built from modular application
components. The framework is fexible and scalable,
making it possible to add or reduce functionality based
on the business processes and key performance
indicators relevant to the ecosystem. The application layer
of Galaxy is designed to deal with a wide range of services
and acts as a single point from which to deliver a unique
service proposition in a managed service delivery model.
