Gbots in building systems
For example, Gbots can play a valuable role in managing
building systems and this is currently the application in
which the majority of Gbots are deployed. The last two
decades witnessed signifcant progress in the use of
standard communication protocols allowing integration
of building control systems and building services. Despite
this, little or no progress has been made in actually
making the building intelligent, or in solving the control
optimization problem of interaction with other systems
and the environment, including the buildings’ users.
User behavior is an important factor to consider in
systems that aim to control energy consumption by
controlling the thermal exchanges between a building
and its surroundings. The ability of occupants to make
their own choices and control their environment is critical
to their comfort and satisfaction but open windows and
altered thermostats can wreck energy management
strategies. Dynamically steering individual’s attempts
to manage their comfort and control their building can
save up to 20% of current energy consumption. Doing
this by allowing greater interaction between the user and
the control systems will increase comfort and improve
performance.
