GBOTS are intelligent in extracting knowledge and in
managing engineering assets. Pacifc Controls Galaxy
GCCC incorporates various techniques for transforming
data into useful information and developing knowledge
and provides continuous feedback to the data centre
manager - or the maintenance Gbots if that role has been
delegated to them.
The graphic below shows the layered structure of an IaaS
service and the role the Gbots play in it. The business
layer contains processes that deal with the corporate
strategy and customer relations. The service layer deals
with the products that are offered to the customers,
namely the services. The network management layer
incorporates the management processes necessary
for the provider’s overall network infrastructure. The
element management deals with processes concerning
single devices in the network (servers, routers, switches
etc.). The element layer representing the heterogeneous
hardware devices that form a network.
The SM BOT includes business related functionalities. It
focuses on the services that it sells so it is mainly located
at the service management layer.
The NM BOT also focuses on a service, but it knows the
implementation details of the service and hides them from
the upper layer components. It has knowledge about the
provider’s network infrastructure and it knows how to
trigger service relevant network management functions.
The EM BOT knows a specifc network device and hides
the device specifc details from the upper layer. This
focuses on a single network element.
Pacifc Controls Galaxy is the world’s frst cloud computing
platform to create intelligent bots – Gbots - to manage
systems remotely. They are already being used to
maintain HVAC systems and servers in the Pacifc
Controls data centres and in other buildings around the
globe. Gbots integrate with management information
systems (MIS) to optimize and control systems.
Theyreduce operations costs in cities and enterprises by
operating systems more effciently and making real-time
data easily available to decision makers.
Intelligent Gbots form a basic building block of Pacifc
Controls Galaxy solutions. Gbots are intelligent robots that
operate continuously and autonomously in any systems
environment, often one inhabited by other Gbots and
processes. Gbots assist people and act on their behalf,
thanks to their autonomous operation, modular structure
and ability to communicate. Gbots are a very fexible tool
for integration and optimization at multiple levels.
Gbots perceive their environment through sensors and
act upon that environment through effectors. A human
agent has eyes, ears, and other organs for sensors, and
hands, legs, mouth, and other body parts for effectors.
Gbots substitute cameras and infrared range fnders for
the sensors and various motors for the effectors. A Gbot’s
perceptions and actions take the form of binary data –
encoded strings of bits.
Gbots know, or can learn, about the systems and
equipment they monitor and can communicate and
collaborate with other Gbots to achieve a common goal,
such as identifying and diagnosing problems, minimizing
energy consumption, minimizing operating costs, or
maximizing comfort. Gbots can be dispatched to run
on local processors within the systems they are working
